Disruptions at GMX and WEB.DE
Since Wednesday morning, there have been disruptions with the email services of GMX and WEB.DE. Relief is already indicated. The causes are unclear.

Customers using services from 1&1 subsidiaries GMX and WEB.DE are reporting increased difficulties accessing their mailboxes and delays in retrieving messages on Wednesday morning. At the time of reporting, the number of new disruption reports is slowly decreasing.
The press department of the parent company 1&1, which also belongs to United Internet AG, was not reachable by phone for related questions. In response to an email inquiry from heise online to WEB.DE, the company confirmed it was aware of the disruptions and merely referred to the disruption portal: “Currently, there may be isolated restrictions in the use of WEB.DE. We are already working on a solution. Please be patient.”
Allestörungen.de received up to around 5600 reports for WEB.DE and around 3,200 reports simultaneously for GMX meanwhile. While the situation at GMX seems to have calmed down, reports for WEB.DE are currently increasing again.

Therefore, it is currently not foreseeable when the services will be normally available again. It is also unclear whether the 1&1 subsidiaries will provide further information on the causes of the errors.
