Alexa+: Beta test begins in Germany
In the USA, users have been able to test the new Alexa+ for months, and now the beta test is beginning in Germany. Selected users are invited via email.

Amazon is now also testing its new AI voice assistant Alexa+ in Germany. "A small number" of Alexa users are currently being invited to the beta phase, Amazon confirmed to heise online. The company does not provide any information on how many users can participate or how the selection was made.
Users who Amazon has selected for the Alexa+-beta will receive an email. "You are invited to participate in the Alexa+ beta. Help us make Alexa+ even better before its official launch in Germany," Amazon writes in it. Selected users have until November 30 to register.
Amazon hopes to receive feedback from beta program participants to further improve the assistant before its official market launch. In the USA, millions of users are already participating in the beta program. When Alexa+ will be available as a full version in the USA and internationally is unclear. The development of the smart assistant has been somewhat bumpy so far.

Improved assistant with AI functions
Alexa+ is an enhanced version of the familiar Alexa voice assistant, which, thanks to the integration of modern AI models, is intended to enable more natural conversations with users, among other things. Unlike the previous Alexa, the new version is supposed to better understand the context of requests, be addressable without constantly repeating the activation word, and ask follow-up questions. Since it functions as an AI agent, it can also order food from delivery services, for example.
All of this is not free: those who want to use Alexa+ after the beta phase will generally have to pay for it. Amazon charges 20 US dollars per month for this. An exception are Prime customers, who get access to the smarter assistant at no extra cost. Amazon continues to offer the previously available Alexa for free to all users.
