A new Apple TV series, originally scheduled for next week, has been withdrawn at short notice, and the associated website, including the press page, has also gone offline. The show from France, titled "Die Jagd" (English: "The Hunt", French: "Traqués"), comes from major studio Gaumont and was set to premiere on December 3rd. However, there were plagiarism accusations that are now causing Apple to reconsider and investigate the situation, writes the trade publication Variety. Gaumont confirmed the cancellation in a statement. They have "temporarily postponed" the broadcast and are currently conducting an "extensive investigation" to clarify "all questions regarding our production." Gaumont takes intellectual property "very seriously."
Dispute among hunters
The accusation is that series creator Cédric Anger allegedly took the plot of the series from a novel from the seventies, which was already filmed in 1976 ("Shoot" by Douglas Fairbairn, who died in 1997). This was first made known by a French media expert. "The Hunt" is a thriller starring Benoît Magimel. The renowned actor is a Palme d'Or and multiple César winner.

Originally, "The Hunt" was planned to start with two episodes next week, followed by weekly episodes until the end of December. Apple TV is no longer showing the series. "The Hunt" is about a group of recreational hunters who are inexplicably attacked in a forest area. One of the attackers dies in the shootout. The group is eventually rescued, but the attackers seek revenge, which then spills over into "real life." The plot of "Shoot" is similar to that of "The Hunt." Here too, there are rival groups of hunters, and a death occurs followed by combat.
Internationalization at Apple TV
Apple has not yet commented on the case, leaving communication to the studio, Gaumont. The company is trying to enrich its service with more and more international content.
For example, there are also German shows, and Apple often shoots abroad in the US. For instance, the second season of "Hijack" is set in the Berlin subway.
