The Best VR Games in December 2025: Thief VR, Men in Black, and a Hidden Gem
December brings several well-known brands to virtual reality with "Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow," "Men in Black: Most Wanted," and "Out of Sight VR."
More than 60 VR games are set to be released in December – most notably the VR adaptation of the stealth classic "Thief."

The VR market shows particular diversity once again at the end of the year. In addition to reinterpretations of established franchises like "Thief" and "Men in Black," there are also unusual perspectives in the horror genre and new VR simulators. Those who enjoy exploring, sneaking, getting scared, or searching for clues as a detective will be well-served by the releases on Meta Quest, PlayStation VR2, and PC-VR at the end of the year.
Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow
More than ten years after the last installment in the series, the "Thief" franchise returns – for the first time in virtual reality. The reimagining "Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow" will be released on December 4, 2025, for Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S, PlayStation VR2, and PC-VR. The game is being developed by Vertigo Games and Maze Theory in collaboration with Eidos-Montréal.

As the thief Magpie, players will establish themselves in the steampunk metropolis "The City" against a corrupt regime. The plot revolves around a lost artifact, secret passages, and classic Thief elements such as playing with light, shadow, and sounds. VR thieves can disable HUD elements and rely entirely on visual and haptic feedback. VR-specific interactions, such as blowing out candles via the microphone or opening secret passages through touch, complement the stealth gameplay.
Men in Black: Most Wanted
With "Men in Black: Most Wanted," Sony Pictures Virtual Reality brings a new chapter of the alien hunter universe exclusively to Meta Quest 3 and 3S. Developed by Coatsink ("Jurassic World Aftermath"), the title is set in early 90s New York and features a cel-shaded look that stylistically resembles comic book art.

Players become Agent I, who is facing memory loss and uncovers an alien conspiracy together with Agent L. The hostile species Cylathians has mixed in unnoticed among the population. In terms of gameplay, the title combines classic shooter elements with puzzles and covert investigations. A co-op mode is also said to be included.
Out of Sight VR
"Out of Sight VR," which was released for PC-VR in the summer and is scheduled for release on Meta Quest at the end of the year, takes an unusual perspective. The focus is on a blind girl whom players must guide through a spooky mansion – from the perspective of her teddy bear. The title is based on the indie game of the same name and has been adapted for virtual reality by Flat2VR Studios.

Players direct the character's attention, guide her through acoustic cues, and protect her from dangers. The goal is not only survival but also deciphering traumatic events hidden in the house's past. The psychological horror eschews crude shock effects and aims for a more subtle sense of unease.
Ghost Town
"Ghost Town" is one of the best VR games of the year, but it's still considered a hidden gem. After the psychological horror title was already released for Meta Quest, users of PlayStation VR2 can also enjoy it starting December 1, 2025. As Edith Penrose, players search for her brother in 1980s London. She is supported by her roommate Rina, with whom she runs a paranormal investigation agency.

Similar to "Out of Sight," the developers here also rely not on classic jump scares, but on a dense atmosphere, detailed locations, and cinematic presentation. The visual quality is considered among the best on the Quest platform and should also impress on the PS VR2.

Flight Unlimited
"Flight Unlimited," a VR flight simulator that consciously aims to differentiate itself from arcade-heavy genre colleagues, will be released on December 11. TAS Systems offers ten different aircraft – including the Boeing 747, F/A-18 Hornet, and Douglas DC-3 – with custom-designed cockpits.

Since standalone VR headsets naturally have tighter performance limits than their PC-VR counterparts, players should not expect a production on the level of the "Microsoft Flight Simulator" series. The flight physics are based on realistic parameters, but complex systems like ATC or GPS are missing. Flight simulator fans will also have to make compromises with the controls: flight sticks are not supported. To avoid graphical compromises as well, the developers stream the game world from the internet into the headset, requiring a permanent internet connection. In addition to a free flight mode, mission-based content is also included.
Les Mills XR Dance
Already available for Meta Quest, "Les Mills XR Dance" will now also be released for PC-VR in December. The fitness game combines dance, aerobics, and rhythmic movements with over 25 choreographies. Players follow holographic trainers who demonstrate movements and posture. A calorie counter, leaderboards, and visual aids like mirror images support progress.
