The award for Studio of the Year went to the Berlin-based team Toukana Interactive, best known for their title "Dorfromantik", and which released a new game, „Star Birds“, into Early Access this year. The recently released city-builder strategy game "Anno 117" by Ubisoft was too late for this year's award and can only be considered next year.
The German Developer Award has been presented since 2004 and is supported by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the city of Cologne. The winners of the categories are chosen by juries of press and industry experts. Games from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are eligible. Last year, the survival role-playing game „Enshrouded“ by Frankfurt-based game studio Keen Games won the German Developer Award.
