The cable Fritzboxes 6591, 6660, and 6690, and most recently the DSL Fritzbox 7530, have received an update to FritzOS 8.21. Depending on the router, the version fixes various minor bugs in the firmware.
In the case of the Fritzbox 7530, the manufacturer merely notes one point in the overview:
- Fixed: Interoperability with some ADSL connections with IPv6 was problematic
According to this, problems could occur when older ADSL internet connections and IPv6 addresses interacted.
More bug fixes for cable routers
In the case of the Fritzbox 6660, Fritz names three bug fixes. According to this, IPv6 addresses were missing in the overview of WireGuard connections, the display of data consumption in parental controls was faulty, and remote access could only be activated if the Fritzbox was connected to the internet.
The Fritzbox 6690 skipped the major update Fritzbox 8.20 and immediately received version 8.21. Accordingly, the issues of the sister models should not have occurred in the first place.

Numerous other Fritzboxes still use older FritzOS versions such as 8.02 and 8.03, and in some cases 7 versions.
Updates can be initiated as usual via the FritzOS web interface. By default, it can be accessed via the IP address 192.168.178.1. Alternatively, Fritz provides the images via an FTP server.
