Two new "Star Wars" games were presented at the Game Awards: "Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic," a single-player role-playing game described as a spiritual successor to the iconic "Knights of the Old Republic" games ("Kotor"). In "Star Wars: Galactic Racer", on the other hand, you can get into a Podracer.

"Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic" is being developed by a studio called "Arcanaut". It is a newly founded Canadian team led by Casey Hudson, the industry veteran who worked on "Mass Effect" and "Knights of the Old Republic" at Bioware, among others.

Hudson's presence should mean a certain degree of trust for "Star Wars" fans. However, only a short render trailer was shown at the Game Awards, which says little to nothing about the actual game. A pilot lands on a rainy planet and draws her lightsaber at the end.

There is no release date yet. What is known, however, is that the trailer for "Fate of the Old Republic" ("Fotor"?) was produced in Unreal Engine 5. This suggests that Epic Games' engine will also be used for the actual game. A remake of the original "Knights of the Old Republic" is reportedly being developed at Saber Interactive.

After "Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer" from 1999, LucasArts is now having a "Star Wars" racing game developed again: in "Star Wars: Galactic Racer", however, you don't play in the time of young Anakin, but after the fall of the Empire. The title is being developed by Fuse Games, where former employees of the "Burnout" and "Need for Speed" series work, among others.

Interestingly, "Star Wars: Galactic Racer" is said to include a narrative single-player campaign in addition to a multiplayer mode. The "Star Wars" racing game is scheduled to be released in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. "Ram, maneuver, and eliminate your rivals on varied tracks where no two races are the same. The greater the risk, the greater the reward," writes Fuse Games on the game's Steam page.
