With 2025, an eventful year is slowly but surely coming to an end, and hopefully, we will still have a quiet Christmas season before that. A new federal government has taken over here, but that was overshadowed by the change in the White House, with global consequences. This year, the IT world has been dominated by gigantic investments in infrastructure for AI technology and the increasingly loud question of whether a bubble is inflating here. The era of Windows 10 was supposed to end this year, but the operating system is not quite there yet. The year was also marked by an IT elite that has politically reoriented itself in the USA and by a debate that is gaining momentum about digital sovereignty in Europe.

We hope you can use the coming days to catch up on a good book, a great game, an exciting movie, or an outstanding series. If not, we naturally wish you enough time for your very own alternative. Whatever you do and however you celebrate the days, have fun, relax, and, if applicable, be successful. Should you be working in the coming days, we simply say thank you and wish you as few emergencies and as little stress as possible.

The entire team of heise online and the editorial staff of c't, iX, Mac & i, c't Fotografie, Make, Bestenlisten by Techstage and Telepolis, as well as heise Security, heise Developer, and heise Autos, wish you a Merry Christmas. We hope you can spend quiet days and rest. May you have the time and leisure to look back on the past months and prepare for what is to come. To all the exhausted, we wish strength; to all the fearful, courage; to all those fleeing, a safe haven; to all those freezing, warmth; and of course, to all here and elsewhere, a just peace.

Even though we might not mind a break for once, the world will not stand still in the coming days until the end of the year. And the IT world also keeps turning. Therefore, we will continue to provide you with current news and the most important information during the holidays and between the years. Once again, it will be predictably exciting from December 27th to 30th at the 39th Chaos Communication Congress, which we will, of course, be reporting on. To those who will not be visiting us again until 2026, we wish you a happy new year and a peaceful, happy, successful, and healthy new year. We look forward to providing you with the most important news again afterward.
