The best VR games in January 2026: "Orcs Must Die VR" and "Dread Meridian"
In January, VR fans can expect a colorful mix of adventures, simulators, and action – from Lovecraft-style horror to Formula racing to Orc battles.
With the Lovecraft-style horror adventure "Dread Meridian", things will get dark in January.

2026 starts with a manageable number of VR games. Big productions are nowhere to be found for now. Nevertheless, January again brings a few interesting titles from the second and third tier to Meta Quest 3, PS VR2 and SteamVR, which stand out due to both unusual scenarios and special game mechanics.
Orcs Must Die: By The Blade
On January 22nd, Teravision Games will bring the well-known series to Virtual Reality for the first time with "Orcs Must Die: By The Blade". The mix of melee action and strategic trap placement will be released exclusively for Meta Quest and includes a twelve-mission campaign, divided into three chapters. Players move freely through the levels, block and counter attacks, and place traps.

The game offers 15 weapons, 15 traps, and numerous challenges. A two-player co-op mode is also included. According to Design Director CĂ©sar Sols Galindo, the game mechanics have been adapted so that orcs do not simply run straight to the target zone, but specifically hunt players. This is intended to significantly change the dynamics compared to the classic tower defense template.
Dread Meridian
"Dread Meridian" by Kukrgame and Level Infinite will be released in January for PC-VR and Meta Quest. In the role of researcher Daniella, players travel to the remote Arctic island of Oglanbyen in a story inspired by Lovecraft's “At the Mountains of Madness“ to find her missing twin sister. A dark survival horror adventure with genre-typical puzzles, resource management, customizable melee and ranged weapons, and limited ammunition is intended.

In addition to the single-player campaign, a four-player co-op PvE mode is planned. In asynchronous multiplayer, roles are distributed between survivors and monsters who meet in turn-based matches. The studio has already announced its intention to further develop this mode based on community feedback.
Puzzles of the World
For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, "Puzzles of the World" offers a relaxing alternative on Meta Quest starting January 8th. Players assemble miniature models of world-famous locations such as the Yasaka Pagoda in Kyoto or the canals of Venice. While gradually completing the 3D puzzles, the game provides historical information about the structures.

A booklet integrated into the VR environment provides additional knowledge, while players can switch between different soundscapes with a virtual CD player. The game starts in Early Access and will be expanded with further content in the future.

For Simulation Fans: "Raceclub" & "F/A-18 Pilot Simulator"
The vehicles in "Raceclub" are based on Formula V12 and electric racing cars. VR racers compete alone or in multiplayer in time trials, single races, or free practice on various tracks. The developers promise a competitive component with online leaderboards. However, there are no original licenses.

For fans of realistic flight simulations, the "F/A-18 Pilot Simulator" for Meta Quest by Tas Systems, which previously released the flight simulator "Flight Unlimited" on Quest, will be released in January. In addition to takeoff and landing on aircraft carriers, the title also simulates aerial combat and ground attacks from the cockpit of an F/A-18 Super Hornet. A transparent cockpit display allows all systems to be operated directly in the VR environment.
