At CES, Google offered a preview of new Gemini features for Google TV: the AI will offer more options for interacting with televisions from various manufacturers and interfaces in the future. Projectors will also receive the functions. The new Gemini features will first land on TCL devices.
TV Settings via Gemini
As Google explains in its blog post, users will no longer have to search through the often confusing settings menus to make specific adjustments in the future. With the upcoming update, it will be possible to use natural language commands. For example, if you say to Gemini, “The screen is too dark” or “The dialogue is not understandable,” the AI can adjust image and sound without leaving the movie or show.
In addition, with the new Google TV features, users will receive information on sports results, recommendations for new movies and series, or be able to ask Gemini for general information. For this purpose, Google has developed a new user interface specifically for large screens.
According to Google, the answers will be supplemented with images, videos, and real-time information for sports updates. For complex topics, Gemini also offers “Deep Dives.” These are “annotated, interactive overviews that are easy for the whole family to understand,” according to the manufacturer.

Nano Banana and Veo
Google is also integrating the ability to search your Google Photos library for specific people or moments with Gemini into the TV interface. In addition, with the “Photos Remix” function, you can apply artistic styles or “transform memories into cinematic, immersive slideshows.”
Furthermore, the AI image and video tools Nano Banana and Veo are coming to Google TV devices. With these tools, personal photos can be redesigned or content created directly on the TV via voice command.
The new Gemini features will initially be available on selected TCL devices, according to Google. The features will be rolled out to other Google TV devices in the coming months. According to TCL's press release, Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass will land on Google's TV platform later this year. The app is already available on LG and Amazon Fire TV devices and also on Samsung TVs.
