Copilot integrated: Microsoft's AI assistant now in HP office printers
Omnipresence in Microsoft's Windows and 365 is not enough: HP will soon offer business customers the AI assistant Copilot in printers as well.

The AI assistant Microsoft 365 Copilot is now also to be integrated into printers from manufacturer HP. As HP announced, Copilot will be available to business customers via the HP Workpath app platform on multifunction devices. HP argues this will lead to productivity gains in document processing.
Users will thus have direct access to Copilot functions when scanning, without needing additional steps or devices. For example, they will be able to instruct the printer's control panel to generate AI-powered summaries or translations of scanned documents. For file management, HP promises seamless integration of OneDrive and SharePoint. Copilot will also be able to make "intelligent suggestions" for naming and saving files.

The Copilot application is scheduled to be available for business customers in spring 2026 on HP Workpath-enabled printers; a list of compatible printers can be found here. The app is not free but will be available for purchase as part of the Workpath Premium Bundle of Apps – HP has not yet announced prices.
No Escape from Copilot
So far, Microsoft's AI assistant has achieved broad presence primarily within its own ecosystem. In early 2025, Copilot in Microsoft 365 was introduced for private users – along with a price increase of a good 30 percent. In September, Copilot for 365 business customers followed. And in October, Microsoft's marketing chief Yusuf Mehdi announced that in the future „every Windows 11 PC will become an AI PC“, where AI agents will be activated on command. Copilot remains at the core of the strategy. For the end of 2026, Microsoft is also offering German Copilot users „sovereign data processing“, meaning their data will only be processed in German data centers.
