The VR app “Horizon Workrooms” will be discontinued on February 16, 2026, and will no longer be usable from that date, according to the official Meta support page.
“Horizon Workrooms” was introduced during the pandemic and was Meta's attempt to establish a virtual office for remote collaboration. Users could meet as cartoon avatars with Meta Quest 2 in virtual meeting rooms, access their work computer's desktop, and work together on whiteboards. After an update in 2024 that streamlined “Horizon Workrooms” and removed several features, the VR app was hardly further developed by Meta.
Meta cites the now broad support for productivity apps on Meta Quest as the reason for discontinuing Horizon Workrooms and points to solutions from other providers such as “Arthur,” “Microsoft Teams Immersive,” and “Zoom Workplace.”

With the official Windows 11 integration, Quest users now have a system-wide option to bring the Windows desktop into the VR headset, display it on multiple virtual windows, and even work in immersive applications. However, this solution is not optimized for remote collaboration and meetings.
Withdrawal from the Enterprise Market
Meta's B2B program “Meta Horizon Managed Solutions” (formerly “Meta Quest for Business”) for Meta Quest 3 and 3S will also be wound down next month: As of February 20, 2026, Meta will no longer offer VR headsets and associated services to corporate customers, according to the official support page. For existing customers, monthly fees will be waived from this date. Services will remain usable until January 4, 2030, and support will be maintained until then.
Meta restructured its VR-side B2B business in 2023. In early 2025, an education program was added to enable schools, universities, and other educational institutions to integrate Quest devices into teaching more easily. The offering also included apps covering a wide range of subjects, including science, history, and language learning. The education program is based on the same services that will no longer be offered from February 20.
Meta Streamlines its VR Business
The discontinuation of “Horizon Workrooms” and Meta's B2B program follows profound cuts in the VR division. Meta is significantly reducing its investments in virtual reality to make the business more sustainable and shift resources to other future areas, such as smart glasses.
Against the backdrop of weakening demand for Quest devices, Meta admitted in December that hardware and software are not yet mature enough for a larger market. However, Meta continues to invest in the technology: the company is reportedly working on two new devices and has postponed the launch of the next VR headset to 2027 to refine the software.
