Airbus has ordered humanoid robots of the type Walker S2. This was posted on a social network by the Chinese company UBTech Robotics on Sunday (local time), as reported by a newspaper of the country's Communist Party. A cooperation agreement stipulates that the robots will be used in Airbus factories. Subsequently, UBTech shares were in demand on Monday.
At the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, they rose by more than eight percent – even though UBTech is not revealing any details, such as how many robots Airbus has ordered or by when they must be delivered. heise online has contacted both companies to obtain further information.
According to the party newspaper Global Times, the company received orders for humanoid robots worth a total of the equivalent of 173 million euros last year. This makes it the global market leader in this segment.
Self-chargers
In the summer, UBTech caused a stir by teaching its humanoid robot Walker S2 to automatically replace its batteries. This would allow these robots to work almost continuously around the clock.

Two lithium batteries provide the necessary energy supply but take about one and a half hours to reach a full charge. Therefore, changing is much faster than charging. They are designed as a dual battery system, so one of the accumulators can be replaced without interrupting operation. One unit provides energy for two hours of running or about four hours of standing work.
UBTech was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Shenzhen, southern China. At the end of 2023, the company went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX). It was the largest IPO proceeds in the history of the HKEC. Since then, UBTech has not published any new press releases on its website.
