Bungie plans to launch its online shooter “Marathon” in March 2026. This sets a new target for Bungie after difficult development months: Due to mixed alpha feedback, the studio had temporarily canceled the release, originally planned for September 2025, without replacement to rework the game.
Among other things, Bungie also stopped marketing the online shooter during this time. However, game tests continued in the background.

“Marathon” follows Bungie's two successful “Destiny” shooters. Bungie is the cult developer studio behind several “Halo” games. This is a remake of the game of the same name from 1994.
With the release date, Bungie also announced the price of “Marathon.” The shooter is set to cost 40 euros, meaning it will not be released at full price. However, Bungie intends to generate additional revenue through paid battle passes, which players can use to access cosmetic items.
High-Caliber Voice Actors
In addition, Bungie has announced the voice cast for “Marathon” – it is exceptionally well-staffed. Among the voice actors in “Marathon” are Roger Clark, known as Arthur from “Red Dead Redemption 2.” Also included are several voice actors who have played main roles in “Baldur's Gate 3”: Bungie has hired Samantha Béart, Neil Newbon, and Jennifer English. English recently won the award for best acting performance at the Game Awards for her work in “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33”.

“Marathon” will be a so-called extraction shooter. The game objective is to find equipment on a map and complete various quests, then reach an extraction point alive. The new Bungie shooter can be played solo or in teams of two or three.
