Asus has started selling its first 8K monitor. The ProArt PA32KCX displays 7680 Ă— 4320 pixels on 32 inches, resulting in a high pixel density of 275 pixels per inch (ppi). However, interested parties will have to dig deep into their pockets. While writing, Asus increased the price in its webstore from around 8460 to 10,000 euros. The announcement was made almost two years ago.
In addition to the exceptional IPS panel, this is also due to the professional focus. Asus calibrates the ProArt PA32KCX ex-works and promises high color accuracy of Delta E < 1. Users can also recalibrate the monitor themselves as often as they wish.
The necessary colorimeter is built directly into the monitor. It is located at the bottom left edge of the screen and is extended by the monitor. Calibration works with Asus's own software or Calman software, as well as with Light Illusion ColourSpace.

High Brightness
The panel itself is impressive, even beyond its high resolution. It integrates Mini-LEDs with 4032 dimming zones, which the monitor can control individually for HDR content. The ProArt PA32KCX achieves 1000 cd/m² across the entire area, and up to 1200 cd/m² in individual zones. Due to the resolution, it only displays 60 frames per second (Hertz).
Each color channel is 10 bits deep, allowing the monitor to display 1.07 billion colors. It is said to cover the sRGB color space completely, and other color spaces almost completely: Asus specifies 95 to 99 percent for Adobe RGB and 97 percent for DCI-P3.
Lossless display is possible via two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 2.1 port. The ProArt PA32KCX also transmits a DisplayPort 2.1 signal via Thunderbolt 4. For so-called daisy chains, the monitor has one Thunderbolt input and one output each, through which up to 96 watts of electrical power can be supplied. Multiple monitors can be connected in series via daisy chain.

USB Hub and KVM Switch
An additional USB hub runs via an upstream connection with a Type-C socket and 10 Gbit/s (USB 3.2 Gen 2). It connects to three Type-A ports, each of which can also transmit up to 10 Gbit/s individually. A second USB-C port is intended for connecting a second desktop PC or notebook. Both devices can be operated using the same peripherals via the built-in KVM switch. The stand is height-adjustable, and the display can also be rotated (pivot).
The only monitor alternative with 8K resolution is Dell's Ultrasharp UP3218K from 2018. It comes without Mini-LEDs and Thunderbolt. For the full resolution, two DisplayPort 1.4 connections to an image source are necessary. However, the model is not immediately available.
