Vodafone increases upload speed in cable network to 75 Mbit/s
Starting in February 2026, Vodafone will increase the upload speed for all customers in the cable network to up to 75 Mbit/s.

The network operator Vodafone will offer 75 Mbit/s upload speeds nationwide in its cable network starting in early February 2026. Previously, the company offered a maximum of 50 Mbit/s upload with the DOCSIS 3.1 cable network standard. Basic prices will remain unchanged, and in some new tariffs, Vodafone is also increasing the download speed.
"Upload Booster"
The telecommunications company announced on January 26 that the internet connections for "more than 24 million households in Germany" will become even faster. Starting in February, Vodafone will activate the so-called "Upload Booster," which is intended to accelerate possible upload speeds by up to 50 percent. This will increase the maximum upload speed from the previous 50 Mbit/s to the current 75 Mbit/s.
This is important "for video conferences in the home office, for storing data in the cloud, or for quickly uploading high-resolution photos and videos on social media," according to the company. To use the higher upload speed, new tariffs will apparently need to be booked, with the "monthly basic prices" remaining the same. The new tariffs can be booked from January 29, 2026.

New Tariff Tier
Vodafone is offering its "Upload Booster" for all "GigaZuhause Kabel" tariffs except for the smallest one, which will remain unchanged at 50 Mbit/s download and 25 Mbit/s upload. Some tariffs will also receive a higher download speed: for example, the previous "GigaZuhause Kabel 100" will become "GigaZuhause Kabel 150."

For the tariff with 500 Mbit/s, the download rate will increase to 600 Mbit/s. The largest tariff with 1000 Mbit/s will remain unchanged. Between the 500 Mbit/s and the largest tariff, Vodafone is introducing another one: GigaZuhause Kabel 800 will offer 800 Mbit/s download and 75 Mbit/s upload.
Router with DOCSIS 3.1 Support Required
To achieve the higher upload speed, Vodafone is using the new "DOCSIS 3.1 Low Split" technology. With this technology, the available frequency range for data transmission is to be redistributed and increased, the company explains. Furthermore, more fiber optic will be used successively in the "cable-fiber" network "so that the usable download speed does not suffer under the increased upload," it states. The company points out that a DOCSIS 3.1-capable router is necessary to use the faster speeds. "Modernization work was carried out at 2.500 locations in the past year 2025 alone," according to Vodafone.
In Vodafone's "cable-fiber" network, the fiber optic line ends at the distribution box (FTTC – Fiber to the Curb). In the last mile to the customer, "cable" is used. Compared to the "fiber optic DSL" previously offered by 1&1, Vodafone's cable solution achieves higher bandwidths; with 1&1, the maximum DSL speeds are 250 Mbit/s.
