Numerous German retailers are selling AMD's eight-core processor, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, right on time for its market launch. So far, the shops have largely adhered to AMD's recommended retail price of 499 Euros. The CPU is an accelerated version of the previous Ryzen 7 9800X3D, capable of reaching up to 5.6 instead of 5.2 GHz. This represents an increase of almost eight percent.
The Ryzen 7 9850X3D is for those who want the absolute fastest gaming processor. From a price-performance perspective, the previous Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the more sensible choice: it's about ten percent cheaper and more power-efficient. This, in turn, makes cooling easier. Interested buyers can invest the saved money in DDR5 memory, the prices of which are skyrocketing due to an availability crisis.

Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 possible
A Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 has been circulating in rumors since the end of 2025. Unlike the previous Ryzen 9 9950X3D, both compute chiplets are said to feature an additional cache die, instead of just one. This would give the 16-core processor 64 MB more Level 3 cache.
At the CES tech trade show, AMD said "stay tuned" regarding a processor with two cache dies. The company itself lists the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 in a filing to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). Alienware briefly mentioned the processor in a Weibo video about a new Area-51 PC, but later removed the reference. In a statement, manufacturer Dell stated that the system will be released with the Ryzen 7 9850X3D and "not with a rumored Ryzen 9 9950X3D2". The British workstation provider Sytronix has also removed references to the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2.
Asus recently released a video in China about the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, in which an employee showed, among other things, the results of an overclocking with liquid nitrogen. The video caused a stir because a folder named "Ryzen 9 9950X3DV2" was visible on the captured desktop. Asus itself highlighted this folder.
