Amazon: Alexa+ now available for everyone in the USA
Amazon is now offering its revised voice assistant Alexa+ to all interested parties in the USA. It makes the most sense to get Alexa+ via Prime.

Amazon's AI voice assistant Alexa+ is now open to all users in the USA: After a testing phase of almost a year, all users in the USA can now use Alexa+ without restriction, Amazon announced. Prime customers receive Alexa+ at no extra charge, while others can book Alexa+ separately for 20 US dollars per month.
This is a very bad deal: The Prime subscription is cheaper and includes additional benefits such as faster shipping and access to Prime Video. Given this situation, it is to be expected that the no-extra-charge Prime connection for Alexa+ could only be temporary.
Alexa+ is a voice assistant built on several large language models, offering a wider range of functions compared to the “old” Alexa. Among other things, Alexa+ can converse more naturally with people and answer questions more meaningfully. Unlike the previous Alexa, the new version is said to better understand the context of requests, be addressable without constantly repeating the activation word, and ask follow-up questions. As it functions as an AI agent, it can also order food from delivery services, for example.

Those who don't want to pay for Alexa and are not Prime customers can still try Alexa+ in the USA: According to Amazon, the new voice assistant can also be tried out as a free user via the Alexa app and Alexa.com. This access is limited to text output, meaning voice output is missing.

It is still unclear when Alexa+ will be offered to all users in Germany. Amazon began beta testing the voice assistant here in November last year. Amazon hopes to receive feedback from beta program participants to further improve the assistant before its official market launch.
Amazon has not yet provided any information on the prices and subscription options for Alexa+ in Germany.
