Digital Health: DMEA to take place in Munich from 2027
From 2027, the DMEA will no longer take place in Berlin, but in Munich. It is intended to become more international.

The digital health trade fair DMEA will take place on the grounds of Messe MĂĽnchen from April 2027. This was announced by the Federal Association for Health IT (bvitg) and Messe MĂĽnchen. After several years, Europe's meeting point for digital healthcare will thus move from Berlin to the Bavarian state capital. The aim of the cooperation is to further grow the DMEA and make it more international. The date set is April 13 to 15, 2027. According to the organizers, the new location is intended to offer space for further growth and new event and congress formats.
"Epicenter of digital healthcare"
"With this trade fair location, we are creating nothing less than the epicenter of digital healthcare in Europe. Industry, research, and self-administration are pooling their expertise here specifically for the benefit of customers and patients – for innovations that set standards and decisively and sustainably shape markets," says Matthias Meierhofer, Chairman of the bvitg.
According to the bvitg, the change of location is a response to the dynamic development of the trade fair in recent years. The DMEA has evolved from a national leading event to an increasingly European industry meeting. Munich offers a powerful trade fair and congress infrastructure and excellent international accessibility for this. The change of location is intended to further strengthen the DMEA as a central marketplace for digital health solutions.

According to the organizers, Munich is considered one of the most important technology and health locations in Europe, with a high density of clinics, research institutions, universities, MedTech companies, and start-ups. This proximity to science and industry is to be more strongly integrated into the trade fair and congress program in the future. The thematic focus of the DMEA will remain unchanged. Even at the new location, the close integration of politics, industry, research, and users will remain the focus.
Smart Health Conference in Berlin
Berlin will fill the emerging gap with a new event. Messe Berlin, together with the industry association Bitkom, plans to host the Smart Health Conference for 2027. It is scheduled to take place during the DMEA's previous timeframe and aims to position itself as a new, also internationally oriented platform for digital health.
