On allestörungen.de, there are thousands of outage reports from affected users. They started around 9 a.m. this morning and reached their preliminary peak around 11:15 a.m.

Strato has recognized the problem and posted a notice on the website with frequently asked questions (FAQ). “Currently, there are restrictions on email retrieval via IMAP and in webmail. We are working intensively to ensure that email retrieval is available again as quickly as possible,” the provider writes there.
Strato: Emails are not lost
The company also assures: “Your customers' emails continue to arrive in their mailboxes and will be available after the restrictions are resolved.” The provider does not provide further information. However, the servers hosted there are generally largely accessible. The outage therefore appears to be limited to email retrieval.
Currently, the number of reports to monitoring services is noticeably decreasing. Whether this is because Strato has been able to comprehensively solve the problem, or simply because lunchtime leads to absences and a decrease in usage, is unclear at the time of reporting.
Strato has not yet responded to an inquiry about the disruptions and their causes. If we receive a response, we will update the report.

Most recently, the Swiss web hoster “Webland” was notable for a prolonged outage in November to December last year. The provider, widely used in Switzerland, struggled for more than two weeks to bring customers' services back online. Among other things, websites and customer email traffic were affected. According to the status page, the provider has been normally accessible again since mid-December.
