Page Match: Spotify synchronizes book and audiobook
With Page Match, Spotify allows you to seamlessly switch between reading a book and listening to an audiobook. All you need to do is take a photo.

Spotify makes it easier for users to switch between a book and an audiobook: With the Page Match feature, users can take a photo of the last page they read in their book. Spotify then continues the corresponding audiobook at the correct spot. This works with both printed books and e-books.
In principle, all Spotify users should get access to the new feature, the company writes in the announcement of the new feature. Page Match is currently being rolled out and is expected to reach all users on iOS and Android devices by the end of February. For now, however, Page Match only works with English-language titles. Spotify is currently not revealing whether and when other languages will follow.
Switching in both directions
On the one hand, Page Match allows you to jump from a book to an audiobook. To achieve this, open a supported audiobook in the Spotify app and press the Page Match button. You then need to grant the camera access permission and scan the current page in your book or e-reader. Afterward, you can either continue listening directly in the Spotify app or set a digital bookmark for the selected spot.
But Page Match also works the other way around: After listening to an audiobook, select the Page Match button in the Spotify app and choose "Scan to read". You then need to scan a book page so that Page Match can orient itself, Spotify writes. Afterward, Spotify should help you find the correct spot in the book by prompting you to turn the page.

For this to work, users must own both the audiobook and a readable version of the book. The Page Match feature is practical for people who often switch between reading and listening to the same book. For example, because they prefer to read in bed in the evening but want to continue listening via the audiobook while exercising.
Spotify integrated audiobooks into its offering last summer. Premium subscribers can listen to 12 hours of audiobooks per month. Those who want more can subscribe to the additional option "Audiobooks+" for 9 euros per month, which unlocks an additional 15 hours per month.
