Cowboy is saved and now belongs to the majority of the French Rebirth Group. The new majority owner has taken on the commitment to continue the recall campaign for the Cowboy C4 ST (MR), which was announced in May 2025 due to the risk of frame breakage. The company has now published a first update on the program for Germany as well. Most recently, Cowboy had only announced that it would extend the recall program to Denmark and Germany in the coming weeks.
Several recall centers for Germany
In an email that Cowboy sent to affected individuals and that heise online has received, the company explained that the first affected bikes with high mileage have been rebuilt with new frames and returned to their owners.
Currently, the first recall centers in Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, Berlin, and Hamburg are open. There are already two in Germany at the moment, although it initially seemed last year that Cowboy would only open one recall center in Berlin for Germany.

The two recall centers in Germany will not be the only ones: In addition to a recall center in London, others are being prepared for Germany in the cities of DĂĽsseldorf and Munich. According to Cowboy, the processes will be continuously scaled up "to increase the monthly frame replacement capacity." The takeover by the Rebirth Group seems to be having an effect here already.
Cowboy also states that customers can follow the entire process from the bike's arrival at a recall center, through the frame replacement, to its return. In addition, bikes with higher mileage will be prioritized. Their owners will receive information about the opening of new recall centers first. Cowboy has not yet revealed when this will happen.
The company also explains that the recall is taking so long because it had to build up a "completely new recall structure, from start to finish." This includes "searching for, negotiating, and setting up suitable recall centers" as well as "site selection, training, and coordination of local partners." Cowboy's financial difficulties and lengthy negotiations with the Rebirth Group have likely also cost a lot of time. Meanwhile, customers have been waiting for 9 months to be able to ride their e-bikes safely again.
