After suspicious emails: Fairphone shop likely not hacked
Fairphone owners are reporting receiving emails with suspicious purchase confirmations. Fairphone currently does not assume a hack or data leak.
In the Fairphone web forum and on Mastodon, users have been reporting suspicious emails since the day before yesterday, which they received in connection with previous purchases in the Fairphone shop. Specifically, the emails are said to be re-sent order confirmations for purchases. However, unlike previous official emails from Fairphone, the sender is not "noreply @ mail.fairphone.com" but "noreply @ test.email.bloomreach.com". Furthermore, according to those affected, the links inserted in the email lead to dubious websites, while the rest of the email content contains correct data, such as the order number and invoice details.

In the support forum, buyers are therefore concerned that the shop may have been affected by a data leak or even a hack. Fairphone is now partially allaying these fears. The company responded in the same place and announced that Bloomreach is the official email CMS used by Fairphone. According to the current status, the erroneous email dispatch was not caused by a data leak, but by an internal malfunction. Fairphone will continue to investigate the case and keep users informed.
