Fritz (formerly AVM) is bringing the Fritzbox 7632 to market. It is the manufacturer's most affordable Wi-Fi router that supports the G.fast transmission technology. It is intended for short copper cables within a house when a fiber optic line runs only to the building (Fiber to the Building, FTTB), but not into the individual living spaces (Fiber to the Home, FTTH).

Some providers, for example, only extend fiber optics to the basement in apartment buildings. In the apartments, internet is then provided via the telephone line, ideally with G.fast support. With an extended frequency range of 212 MHz, the Fritzbox 7632 enables one Gigabit per second in both download and upload. Alternatively, the router also works with VDSL connections with Supervectoring up to 300 Mbit/s.

The remaining features of the Fritzbox 7632 correspond to an entry-level router with Wi-Fi 7. It operates in parallel in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands with two MIMO streams each. At 5 GHz, up to 2880 Mbit/s gross is possible (with 160 megahertz signal width); in the 2.4 GHz band, the router achieves 690 Mbit/s. Fritz omits the 6 GHz band in this model.

The Fritzbox 7632 has four Ethernet ports, one with 2.5 Gbit/s and three with 1 Gbit/s each. The 2.5 Gbit/s port also functions as a WAN port for an external modem.

A USB-A port (up to 5 Gbit/s, USB 3.2 Gen 1, formerly called USB 3.0) can be used to connect a printer, a storage device for a private media server, or a mobile radio stick for internet backup.

The remaining functionality corresponds to the Fritzbox standard: a DECT base (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) for telephones, DECT Ultra Low Energy (ULE) for smart home devices, and all the conveniences of FritzOS.

The recommended retail price is 269 Euros. First retailers plan to deliver the Fritzbox 7632 starting in mid-February. The more expensive Fritzbox 7682 (starting from 302,97 €) has twice as fast Wi-Fi and more 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet, but only USB 2.0. If you don't need G.fast and can manage with USB 2.0, you can opt for the cheaper DSL Fritzbox 7690 (starting from 229 €).
