The on-screen action hero John Wick is coming to Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. US studio Saber Interactive is developing a still-unnamed “John Wick” video game. The goal is to transfer the distinctive action style of the film series to a video game, Saber Interactive writes in a statement. There is no release date yet, and the official name of the game will be announced later.

“The combat style will feel like an authentic John Wick action sequence taken directly from the movies,” promises the development team. Everything is designed to recreate the film experience faithfully and fully playable. The combat system will be developed from scratch for this purpose.
The “John Wick” films starring Keanu Reeves are known for their “Gun Fu” action sequences, which combine rapid firearm combat with close-quarters combat. The game should therefore succeed in seamlessly combining close combat and shootings to do justice to the source material.
Keanu Reeves speaks
To achieve this, Saber Interactive is receiving support from the film studio Lionsgate, which produces the “John Wick” films, and director Chad Stahelski. Keanu Reeves is also said to be involved in the game development. He is said to not only lend his appearance to the main character but also his voice. Whether Reeves also provides the motion capture for the movements is not clear from the statement. Video games are not a completely new field for Reeves; in “Cyberpunk 2077,” he plays the co-main character Johnny Silverhand.

Saber Interactive has recently celebrated successes with “Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2.” The studio is also considered technically proficient and often supports other teams with re-releases of classic video games, including “Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered.” A remake of “Knights of the Old Republic” is also said to be in development at Saber Interactive. In parallel, the studio is working on “Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 3” and “Hellraiser Revival.”
