WhatsApp is introducing the feature to share a group's message history with new members. The Messenger service announced this. This now allows administrators and group members to privately send new members the last 25, 50, 75, and 100 messages from the group. Previously, anyone invited to groups where conversations had already taken place could not view the messages.

The forwarding of previous messages does not happen automatically and can also be completely deactivated by group admins. When the message history is sent to an invited member, all users in the group will also receive a notification, it is further stated. This is clearly different from normal messages and contains information about when the history begins and who shared it. The update is currently being rolled out.
This feature has already been in the version number 2.26.1.28 in the beta testing phase since the beginning of January. It was initially only available for Android via the Google Play Beta Program. Somewhat later, Meta also released the test version for iOS under the version number 26.2.10.73.
