The new Fire TV app for mobile devices is being rolled out: the first devices are expected to receive the new app on Wednesday, Amazon told heise online. The new version of the application is then expected to arrive on all devices in the coming weeks.
Amazon had already announced the new Fire TV app at CES in January. New in the revised version is the ability to search for content on the smartphone and manage the watchlist. In addition, you can now play content directly on the TV via the app.

New Fire TV interface being prepared
The new Fire TV app is part of a broader redesign of the Fire TV interface. In addition to the app, Amazon is also revising the Fire TV interface that you see on Fire TVs and when using Fire TV sticks. According to Amazon, the new UI enables faster navigation through improved layouts. For example, in the movies tab, the new interface now shows titles from all the services you use.

According to Amazon, operation is 20 to 30 percent faster. Visually, color gradients, typography, and the corners of tiles, which are now rounded, have been changed. In addition, you can pin up to 20 apps in the new Fire TV interface instead of six. With the menu button, users can navigate faster to games or photos. While the Fire TV app is already being revised, it will take some time until the new TV interface follows: according to Amazon, the update is planned for spring.
Amazon angered some Fire TV customers in January when the company announced the end of the Fire TV Blaster: with an update on January 31, 2026, Amazon turned all sold Blasters into e-waste. With the infrared device, customers could control their devices by voice command. Affected customers in Germany received an Amazon gift card for the purchase price (regularly 35 euros) as compensation.
