Honor MagicPad 4: Thinner than iPad Pro and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra
Honor undercuts Apple in the race for the thinnest tablet: The new MagicPad 4 is only 4.8 mm thin, yet it packs a rather powerful configuration.

With a slim profile of 4.8 mm (273.4 Ă— 178.8 mm), the Honor MagicPad 4 is likely one of the thinnest devices in its category currently available. The previously slimmest devices, such as Apple's iPad Pro 13-inch and Samsung's Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, measure around 5.1 mm. Moreover, it is one millimeter thinner than its predecessor. Despite the slimming down, this slender device packs Qualcomm's latest high-end chip and a large 10,100 mAh battery into its frame.
Smaller and lighter than its predecessor
This means that the MagicPad 4 features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 – not to be confused with the elite model – which has so far only been used in smartphones. This should allow the tablet to deliver high processing power. The chip is accompanied by 12 or 16 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of flash storage, respectively.

To ensure the tablet stays cool during demanding tasks or gaming, Honor has reportedly integrated a two-way vapor chamber (VC) with a 13-layer 3D cooling structure and a heat dissipation area of 81,717 mm². How reliably this cooling system maintains sustained performance will be revealed in tests.
The display of the new Honor tablet now measures 12.3 inches (3000 × 1920 pixels) diagonally, which is slightly smaller than the 13.3 inches of the previous model. However, the new model uses a higher-quality OLED panel with 165 Hz instead of LCD technology. Furthermore, the screen is significantly brighter than its predecessor's, reaching up to 2700 cd/m² compared to the previous model's 1000 cd/m².
The battery, with its rated capacity of 10,100 mAh, is slightly smaller than in the 3rd generation (12450 mAh). However, battery life should not be affected due to the potentially more efficient screen and processor. Incidentally, the new tablet weighs 450 g, making it 145 g lighter than its predecessor, which weighed nearly 600 g. This makes it weigh about as much as Apple's smaller 11-inch iPad Pro (446 g).

Android 16 with optional PC interface
In terms of cameras and multimedia, Honor has equipped the tablet with a 13 MP camera on the back and a 9 MP sensor on the front for selfies. Additionally, it features 8 speakers that support Spatial Audio. The tablet also incorporates the latest wireless standards, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. Honor is using its MagicOS 10, based on Android 16, as the operating system. The manufacturer promises 6 years of Android updates and security patches, which is quite good.

The software of the MagicPad 4, like that of the also announced foldables Magic V6, is designed to enable cross-device collaboration with smartphones and multi-platform environments – including Apple's ecosystem. Furthermore, an optional desktop mode, which can be activated as needed, is said to provide a "PC-like work experience" including "file management and multitasking workflows," according to the manufacturer.
Honor is asking from 599 Euros for the new tablet. The device is available in gray and white.
