The online marketplace Refurbed, founded in Vienna, for used and refurbished products celebrates both its current sales growth and its next geographical expansion. The company announces that it has now surpassed the 3 billion euro mark in cumulative gross merchandise volume (GMV) and is now using this success to expand into thirteen additional European markets. Following the launch in thirteen more countries, the platform can now reach approximately 486 million consumers and is active in a total of 24 European markets.
The new Refurbed markets are Great Britain, France, Spain, Poland, Slovenia, Croatia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Slovakia. The expansion of the online marketplace follows the most recent financing round, which was completed in October 2025, as well as reaching profitability last year. Both have created the financial basis for scaling the business model across Europe.
Remarkable Growth
Peter Windischhofer, Co-Founder and CEO of Refurbed, explains: “Refurbishment is no longer a niche – for many customers in Europe, it is becoming the new normal. We have proven that a circular business model can be scaled profitably. The 3 billion euro mark and the expansion into thirteen new markets clearly demonstrate this.”

According to Refurbed, the 3 billion euro mark in gross merchandise volume was surpassed less than twelve months after reaching the 2 billion mark. Of these 2 billion, more than 50 percent were generated in the German market at the time. The current increase corresponds to an annual GMV growth of over 40 percent. The premium segment is growing disproportionately strongly, particularly in the past twelve months by 113 percent in orders and 90 percent in GMV share. In the consumer electronics sector, Apple, Samsung, and Google products are in increasing demand, and brands like Dyson or Kärcher are expanding their availability on the marketplace.
The company reached its first billion in gross merchandise volume about six years after its founding in 2017. Since then, Refurbed has successively expanded its offering to new product categories, now often offering a much wider product range than more specialized refurbishers on the market. Platforms like Amazon or eBay, or retailers like Conrad or Media Markt, now offer refurbished products alongside new ones.
