Patient PC gamers have also been able to play PlayStation blockbusters in recent years: Sony's first-party productions such as "Ghost of Tsushima", "The Last of Us Part 2" and "God of War Ragnarök" were released on PC some months or years after their original release. This is now coming to an end, reports Bloomberg. Even a game that is already on the market, "Ghost of Yotei", is said to be affected – plans for a PC port were scrapped in recent weeks.
Games journalist Jason Schreier first reported on Sony's change in strategy in the podcast "Triple Click". In his Bloomberg report, he now reveals additional details about Sony's return to its exclusivity strategy. According to him, Sony's PC ports have not generated significant revenue. Furthermore, Sony is concerned about damaging the high-quality first-party productions of the PlayStation 5 and future consoles with PC ports.

Sony therefore plans to release only multiplayer titles on PC. This includes "Marathon" from Sony subsidiary Bungie, which will be released for PlayStation, Xbox and PC on March 5. "Marvel Tokon" is also said to be ported to PC. However, planned single-player titles like "Saros" from Housemarque will remain PlayStation-exclusive, according to Bloomberg.
"Ghost of Yotei" only on Playstation
It is somewhat surprising that not even "Ghost of Yotei", which was released last autumn, will be ported to PC. Its predecessor "Ghost of Tsushima" was only released for PC in 2024, four years after its original PlayStation release. Accordingly, many PC gamers will have only recently played the first part and were already looking forward to the sequel. According to Bloomberg, they would now have to buy a Playstation 5 to play the action game. Sony has not yet commented on the report.
Sony began bringing its once closely guarded PlayStation exclusive titles to PC in 2020. With the PC version of "Horizon Zero Dawn", Sony announced for the first time the implementation of a true first-party blockbuster for PC. "Zero Dawn" was followed by numerous other Sony crown jewels: "God of War", "Spider-Man" and "Uncharted" found their way to PC.
