Homematic IP: WLAN cameras, smart bulbs, new lock expand smart home
First security cameras and LED bulbs, new smart lock, touch wall displays, and more: Homematic IP expands its smart home system with over 20 new products.
Homematic IP offers six cameras for indoor and outdoor use, which can be operated and automated directly within the system app.

At the Light + Building trade fair, the manufacturer eQ-3 is significantly expanding the smart home system of its Homematic IP brand. Five security cameras and a video doorbell keep an eye on everything around the house. Smart LED bulbs can illuminate it colorfully. Because these devices are now from their own company for the first time instead of partner brands, they can be controlled better with the system app than before. An improved smart lock takes care of door security. A water stop valve is intended to prevent flooded floors. New flush-mounted actuators and touch displays for the wall make important functions accessible at the touch of a finger. The system will also soon support MQTT and Modbus.
Better locking and monitoring
The “Door Lock Drive Pro” is a less bulky version of the previous smart lock without a name suffix. Additionally, the new addition offers built-in position and vibration sensors, which are intended to detect ajar doors and forceful break-in attempts without external components.

In addition to a video doorbell, the new security optics include two indoor cameras, one each with the suffix “Basic” and “Plus” and a previously unclear distinction. Furthermore, there are three outdoor cameras. One of these additionally has a floodlight on board, and one operates on battery power. According to the manufacturer, all models are “high-resolution,” detect movement and people, offer two-way audio, and have night vision.
Compared to the previously compatible cameras from partner brand Ezviz, the higher ease of use and functional scope of the company's own devices represent an advantage. In addition to access to the live stream, the new additions allow interaction with other Homematic IP devices, such as starting a recording when a smart smoke detector triggers an alarm.
The new “Homematic IP Water Stop and Supply Unit” takes care of clean and safely guided tap water. In addition to completely stopping the flow in an emergency, the device can also reduce pressure and remove dirt particles with a backflush filter.
Switching lights
After LED strips for decorative lighting, Homematic IP now offers classic lamps for basic illumination. With E27 and GU10, the manufacturer covers two common lamp sockets. While such light sources can currently be obtained and integrated from Philips Hue, only ten pieces at a time and via the detour of a gateway and a cloud-to-cloud interface of the partner brand. In contrast, the new additions can be integrated directly into the Homematic IP system.
In addition to app commands, the light sources react to touch switches, for example. At the Light + Building, the manufacturer has new dimmer inserts and attachments as well as touch displays in switch design in its luggage. The latter can be networked not only via wall wires but also wirelessly for the first time.

Most devices use the manufacturer's protocol based on 868 MHz. Only the cameras and light sources communicate via WLAN (2.4 GHz). In any case, a Homematic IP control center is required for contact with the home network. Those who choose the variant called Home Control Unit will be able to couple heat pumps and air conditioners from other brands via Modbus from the third quarter of 2026. The MQTT interface is also scheduled to be ready then.
The market launch of the new lamps, wall switches, video cameras, and the door lock drive is planned between April and September. The water stop unit will be released this month for around 1000 euros. Other prices have not yet been determined.
