Bethesda is also bringing “Starfield” to Playstation 5. The sci-fi role-playing game from the “Elder Scrolls” developer was recently among the last remaining Microsoft exclusives not available for Playstation. This changes on April 7th: The PS5 version of “Starfield” will be released then, alongside a new DLC and a free update.
Bethesda has not only ported "Starfield" but also made some special adjustments for the PS5. For example, the PlayStation's DualSense gamepads, including the touchpad and adaptive triggers, are fully supported. For the Playstation 5 Pro, Bethesda has developed two new modes: the “Pro Performance Mode” promises 60 FPS with improved graphics, while the “Pro Visual Mode” runs in 4K resolution at 30 FPS. The standard version for “Starfield” costs 50 euros on the PS5.
DLC “Terran Armada” announced
There is also good news for “Starfield” fans on Xbox and PC: Bethesda is releasing several new content pieces for the sci-fi role-playing game simultaneously with the PS5 version. Some of it is behind a paid DLC paywall, but the rest will be available for free to all users.

The paid story DLC is called “Terran Armada” and brings a new questline, new characters, locations, enemies, and rewards. According to Bethesda, players in the DLC decide nothing less than the future of humanity in space by facing the attacks of the Terran Armada and its robot army. Bethesda names a price of 10 US dollars, which is expected to mean an identical Euro amount.
Free Update with Space Travel
In addition to the story DLC, Bethesda is releasing a free update called “Free Lanes,” which adds some fan-requested features. This includes, for example, the ability to travel interplanetarily within systems – previously, all of this happened via loading screens. In the new travel mode, players can travel from planet to planet and be confronted with encounters and activities during the journey – or simply spend time on board with their crew.

As further free features, Bethesda mentions new locations, a new landing vehicle, and a mini-bot named Muria as a new crew member. “Free Lanes” and “Terran Armada” will also be released on April 7th.
“Starfield” was released in 2023 to mixed reviews. Reviewers and players criticized, among other things, that due to the constant loading screens, the feeling of a cohesive universe never quite emerged. Furthermore, the largely lifeless planets were often criticized. Only 58 percent of Steam users recommend “Starfield.” Whether Bethesda plans further content after April 7th is open.
