Galaxy A57 and A37: Samsung's new mid-range
Samsung has introduced the Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G. The new mid-range models offer new processors, Android 16 out of the box, and six years of updates.

Almost traditionally, Samsung releases an updated A-Class a few weeks after the S-Class. This year, it initially consists of the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G, with prices starting at 429 Euros for the smallest A37 and going up to 589 Euros. For comparison: the 2025 series cost between 299 and 529 Euros. The storage crisis is indeed noticeable in Samsung's new mid-range.
New Chip
The top model of the new Galaxy A-series is the Galaxy A57 5G, which features the Exynos 1680, a new octa-core processor. Unlike the Exynos 1580 in the Galaxy A56 5G, it has a different cluster architecture: it features a Prime core at 2.91 GHz, four high-end cores up to 2.6 GHz, and three energy-efficient cores up to 1.95 GHz. The Exynos 1580 had three high-end and four low-power cores. This could make the new SoC slightly more powerful due to the increased number of high-performance cores. The CPU is supported by Samsung's Xclipse 550 GPU, which is also likely to be more powerful than the one in the A56.
Regarding RAM, Samsung's A57 offers 8 GB and 128 or 256 GB of flash storage. There are apparently also variations with 12 GB RAM, but apparently not for the European market. The display has a diagonal of 6.7 inches and an FHD+ resolution of 2340 Ă— 1080 pixels, as well as a refresh rate of 120 Hertz.

On the back, there are 3 sensors for the camera: The wide-angle camera has 50 megapixels (MP) with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS), accompanied by a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle (f/2.2) and a 5 MP camera (f2.4) for macro shots. The selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture has 12 MP. The battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh and can be charged quite quickly via cable at up to 45 watts. Unlike its predecessor, which was 7.4 millimeters thick, the A57 measures only 6.9 mm (161.5 Ă— 76.8 Ă— 6.9 mm). It weighs 179 g. Unlike the 2025 A-series (IP67), both new A-models are protected against dust and water ingress according to IP68, and the A57 also features an aluminum frame and a glass back.

The Galaxy A37 5G apparently has the same 6.7-inch display and the same battery. The camera specifications also read almost identically, but it has an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera instead of a 12 MP one. The installed Exynos 1480 is no longer the newest; Samsung already used it in the Galaxy A55 from 2024. The RAM is six or eight GB depending on the variant, while the flash storage offers 128 or 256 GB. Compared to the A57, the Galaxy A37 is slightly larger – due to thicker bezels – and heavier: it measures 162.9 x 78.2 x 7.4 mm and weighs 196 g.
6 Years of Updates
In terms of software, the new A-models are among the first after the S26 series to receive Samsung's new One UI 8.5 software out of the box. The update is based on Android 16 and includes several AI features such as Google's Circle-to-Search, Gemini, and Samsung's streamlined assistant Bixby.
Furthermore, Samsung adheres to the Ecodesign Directive requirements with its mid-range smartphones: The manufacturer promises up to "six Android OS and One UI upgrades, and up to six years of security updates." Only the S-Class receives a longer update guarantee with seven years.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G will be available in selected markets from April 10th. The Galaxy A57 5G comes in the colors "Awesome Navy," "Awesome Gray," "Awesome Icyblue," and "Awesome Lilac." According to the manufacturer, the Galaxy A37 5G is available in the colorways "Awesome Lavender," "Awesome Charcoal," "Awesome Graygreen," and "Awesome White." In terms of pricing, the Galaxy A57 with 8+256 GB costs 589 Euros, and the version with 6+128 GB costs 429 Euros.
