Spotify introduces SongDNA as a beta: New ways to discover music
Spotify has introduced a new feature as a beta called SongDNA, which is intended to help users discover new music.

The new beta feature SongDNA is now available worldwide for Premium users to try out in the mobile Spotify apps. The feature is intended to allow them to explore the "intricate network of people and creative connections behind the music you love."
Who with whom?
Spotify's new SongDNA feature provides in-depth information about who was involved in the creation of a song – including songwriters, producers, samples, and interpolations (modifications in samples). The feature is also said to be able to display cover versions that a song has inspired.
Additionally, users can view each artist in the interactive view to find out which other artists they have collaborated with. According to Spotify, this allows them "to follow the connections between tracks and see how artists, eras, and genres intersect, giving you a deeper understanding of how what you’re listening to came together." SongDNA complements the existing "About the Song" feature.

Information from artists and the community
To view the feature, open the "Now Playing" view in the mobile app and swipe up from the bottom. SongDNA can be found below the lyrics display. Tapping on it opens a new view where you can now scroll horizontally through the contributors. Below this overview, the app also shows which songs have used samples of the song and which artists have covered it.

For Spotify users, the new feature could potentially help expand their musical horizons beyond the usual algorithms and learn about the other projects their favorite bands' musicians and producers have worked on.
According to Spotify, SongDNA's information is based on a combination of data the company has received from artists and their teams, and data from the community – including data from the music database WhoSampled, acquired by Spotify at the end of 2025. Spotify plans to further develop the feature during the beta phase. In this context, "eligible artist and label teams can review and manage the components of SongDNA in Spotify for Artists, ensuring they have a direct hand in how their musical story is told," it continues.
