Pixel Update April 2026: Google Fixes App Crashes and System Errors

"The April 2026 update includes bug fixes and improvements for Pixel users," Google writes in the announcement of the software update, which was released on April 7, 2026, and will be gradually rolled out to compatible Pixel devices from Pixel 6 onwards.

According to the changelog, the new Android 16 version with build number CP1A.260405.005 fixes, among other things, a problem where the "Backup" menu was missing under certain circumstances in the system settings. Likewise, a bug that caused certain banking and third-party apps to crash under certain circumstances is to be fixed.

In addition, the new version is said to fix problems that caused some games to crash under certain conditions. According to Google, this fix is primarily aimed at the new Pixel 10 series, consisting of the Pixel 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10, Pixel 10a.

On all models, the update should also fix a problem where the quick search bar occasionally disappeared from the home screen under certain conditions, the company writes.

Furthermore, after installing the update, data transfer should no longer crash on models Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold during Quick Share usage. The update may also fix some of these known bugs that users complained about after the March Pixel drop was released. In some cases, software errors apparently even led to boot loops on various Pixel models.

New Pixel-specific features are nowhere to be found in this update. The last feature update for Pixel smartphones was the "Pixel Drop" in March, which introduced AI-generated icon packs, SpongeBob-style software designs, and a revised "At a Glance" function, among other things. The next major update is expected in June with Android 17.
