Xeno Arena: "No Man's Sky" gets "Pokémon" battles
Collect creatures and then duel with them: "No Man's Sky" gets a new game mechanic.

The updates for “No Man's Sky” are relentless: Ten years after its release, developer Hello Games has now released a new patch that introduces wholly new gameplay mechanics: Players can pit collected alien figures against each other in turn-based battles.
This is probably not coincidentally reminiscent of Nintendo's “Pokémon” games – Hello Games also names “Palworld” and the creature duels in “World of Warcraft” as further inspirations. As in the original, players can “adopt” creatures – this has already been possible in “No Man's Sky” for several years. New, however, are holodecks where holograms of the collected creatures can fight each other. Unlike in the “Pokémon” games, you don't have to worry about the well-being of the creatures, as only their images duel.

Catch Legendary Aliens
Hello Games sees holo-deck battles as an entirely new multiplayer and single-player gaming experience with depth, existing within the existing “No Man's Sky” game. Species from different planets are said to differ from each other through different abilities and elemental properties, among other things.
On their journey through the “No Man's Sky” universe, players can also look out for particularly rare aliens, which Hello Games describes as legendary variants. This information can then be shared with other players. Collected creatures can be trained and even genetically modified, for example to unlock new colors.

In the ten years since its disappointing release, “No Man's Sky” has been regularly supplied with major updates that have brought new gameplay systems, content, and extensive graphical improvements to the space game. For these countless improvements, “No Man's Sky” was rewarded with a large and dedicated community, despite its botched market launch, which is still very active.
