Spotify users can turn off videos completely
Spotify wants to allow users to specifically or completely turn off videos. This is also intended as an additional form of parental control.

Spotify videos will be optional: In the settings, users will soon be able to specifically disable all forms of videos, Spotify promises. Until now, it was only possible to disable the so-called "Canvas" videos. With the new settings, you can also disable video material in podcasts and Spotify music videos. If desired, you will no longer see any video content in Spotify – with the exception of some advertising.
The new video settings are intended to be available in the desktop app and on mobile and can be activated across devices, Spotify writes in the announcement. However, they were not yet available on a German test account – Spotify promises that the update will be rolled out this month. All new settings are intended to be available to both paying subscribers and free users.
More parental control
For Spotify, the extended settings for moving image content are also an additional tool for parents: In family accounts, account holders can also set the settings for other users. This allows parents to control whether their children are allowed to watch videos in addition to music. The settings can be found in the display options of the app – as soon as they are actually there.

For Windows users, Spotify recently introduced an option for exclusive music playback: It prevents Windows from interfering with the audio playback of the music streaming service. If "Exclusive Mode" is activated, playback runs exclusively via the audio interface. According to Spotify, this can lead to more precise sound quality. Usually, Windows intervenes in the playback of all audio sources: sounds can be remixed or otherwise adjusted before they reach the digital-to-analog converter or audio interface. In exclusive mode, Spotify bypasses the Windows audio mixer and forwards the signal directly to the audio device.
