Trump phone: T1 Phone apparently gets new design

The Trump Organization sends a signal of life from the T1 Phone: The Trump mobile phone, announced almost a year ago, is now showing itself on a revised website with a new design. The rear cameras are apparently no longer arranged in a triangle but are placed one below the other. The inscription T1 disappears from the back; instead, below the monochrome US flag, the inscription “Trump Mobile” can now be read.

The most important thing: The golden housing color remains untouched. However, there are changes again in the listed specifications. After the display had shrunk to 6.25 inches according to the data sheet, it is now growing back to the originally promised 6.8 inches. The Trump Organization specifies the internal storage as a generous 512 GB, given the storage crisis, and provides no information about the RAM.

The Trump phone is said to run on Android 15 and be powered by a Snapdragon 7 processor. How much of this is final? One cannot be sure: The published images are for illustration purposes only, writes the Trump Organization. The appearance and specifications of the final product may differ. The Trump Organization is a holding company for several businesses and real estate owned by US President Donald Trump.

“American-Proud Design”

The manufacturer is also backing down somewhat on the core promise of the Trump phone. Originally, the phone was sold with the argument that it was manufactured entirely in the USA. A large banner with the inscription “MADE IN THE USA” was temporarily visible on the shop page, but it has been removed. Later, the Trump Organization fired smoke bombs with phrases like “proudly american.” The phone was designed with “American values,” it was said elsewhere. On the new website, the Trump Organization now writes of “American-Proud Design.” The phone is shaped by American innovation, it continues. American teams helped guide the design and quality.

That the Trump Phone is actually manufactured in the USA was considered impossible from the start: there is no corresponding infrastructure in the USA. Apple has its phone components manufactured in Taiwan, China, and India, among other places. Creating factories, know-how, and labor for manufacturing in the USA out of thin air would be an enormously lengthy process.

No release date

The Trump Organization no longer provides a release date, after several dates had fallen through last year. No price is mentioned either. It is still possible to be placed on a waiting list for a prepayment of 100 US dollars.

The Verge was able to ascertain as early as February that the Trump phone does not just exist on render images: In a video call, company manager Eric Thomas showed the US tech magazine a prototype of the T1 Phone, which largely corresponds to the images now published.
