On allestörungen.de, there have been increasing reports since around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, and the global Downdetector also shows thousands of users reporting problems with the service. However, the number of outage reports is decreasing at the time of reporting. Accessing Bluesky is currently not immediate. When the page loads, it does so with delays and largely without embedded images.
It is unclear whether Bluesky has already identified the underlying issues and when they will be finally resolved. No current information on the status can be found at the moment. The current behavior of the page is similar to a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) or problematic load-balancing distributions. However, there is no evidence for this. Bluesky did not immediately respond to a request from heise online.
Twitter Alternative
The social network Bluesky is a decentralized network that was launched on the initiative of former Twitter founder Jack Dorsey. Bluesky has been openly accessible since 2024 and has since gained 41 million accounts. According to the transparency report for 2025, around 1.4 billion posts were created.

For many former Twitter users, Bluesky has become an alternative home. After Elon Musk took over the network now called X, many looked for other social networks due to the raw manners prevailing there and due to omnipresent hate and incitement.
