The Chinese manufacturer Oppo has introduced its new top model Find X9 Ultra, focusing on the cameras. The smartphone with an optional telephoto camera attachment will also be available in Germany – starting at 1700 euros. For the design of the model with vegan leather, the manufacturer claims to have been inspired by Hasselblad's X2D.
Almost everything possible
A good year after the introduction of the top model Find X8 Ultra, which was not officially available in Germany, the Find X9 Ultra is now here. Similar to the 2025 model, the manufacturer is packing in almost all the top components currently possible. It features Qualcomm's latest top chip Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is used in devices like the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Xiaomi's 17 Ultra, and Vivo's X300 Ultra. Depending on the variant, it comes with 12 to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB to 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage.

The 6.82-inch LTPO panel with a resolution of 3168 × 1440 pixels and 510 ppi supports a refresh rate of one to 144 Hertz, with the highest frame rate only achieved in some games. However, this is also the case with other devices with this refresh rate. According to the manufacturer, the display will reach up to 1800 cd/m² in High Brightness Mode (HBM) and peak at up to 3600 cd/m². It is also said to be able to display content at 1 cd/m². Furthermore, it supports Dolby Vision, “HDR Vivid”, and PWM dimming at 2160 Hz.

The 7050 mAh silicon-carbon battery suggests a long runtime. For comparison, Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra only has a 5000 mAh battery. Moreover, the Oppo model can be quickly recharged with 100 W wired and 50 W wireless.
The 236-gram device also features IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications. This means it can withstand dust, temporary immersion, and high-pressure water jets. Oppo also states that the device has passed the Swiss SGS Five-Star Drop and Shock Resistance Test. Among others, Honor's Magic 8 Pro also holds this certificate. What the smartphone lacks is Qi2 support. This means it does not have a magnetic back for attaching battery packs or other accessories.

Major camera upgrade
While the basic configuration is what you would expect from a current high-end smartphone, Oppo aims to offer more with its cameras. Five sensors are installed on the back: The wide-angle camera with a 200 MP sensor, a Sony LYTIA 901, has a size of 1/1.12″. It also features optical image stabilization (OIS), an f/1.5 aperture, and a 23 mm focal length. The 14mm ultra-wide-angle camera has 50 MP and is based on Sony's LYT-600 sensor with a sensor size of 1/1.95″. With f/2.0, the ultra-wide-angle camera is quite fast – it is said to capture 56 percent more light than that of the Find X8 Ultra.

Two telephoto cameras accompany these two. One has a 200 MP sensor and f/2.2 (OmniVision OV52A, 1/1.28″), supporting a threefold magnification and 70 mm. According to Oppo, this is the “largest telephoto sensor ever in a smartphone.” It is said to capture 890 percent more light than the threefold camera of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The second telephoto camera with a 50 MP sensor (Samsung JNL, 1/2.75″) and f/3.5 offers a 10x optical zoom up to 230 mm and Sensor-Shift OIS. This is an image stabilization technique where the entire image sensor, rather than the lens as is usually the case, is suspended to compensate for slight movements. The manufacturer claims it should still offer optical zoom quality at 20x magnification. The fifth sensor in the package is a spectral sensor for white balance. The front camera has a 50 MP sensor and an f/2.4 aperture.
The Find X9 Ultra can record videos with up to 8K resolution at up to 30 fps and 4K at 60 fps. It also supports O-Log2. According to Oppo, this profile is designed to “retain more details in dark image areas, reduce image banding, and expand the scope for color grading.” Additionally, the device supports third-party 3D LUTs, which “can be loaded directly onto the device and used there in real-time for previewing individual color looks.” Oppo has also integrated an optimized video output for Instagram with Meta, “to further reduce quality losses between recording and uploading.”
Together with Hasselblad, the manufacturer has integrated a so-called Master Mode, which allows for “more subtle image processing.” The goal is a “natural and detailed reproduction with less aggressive automatic adjustment of brightness and contrast.” It supports 50MP JPEG MAX and 50MP RAW MAX for the six focal lengths of 14 mm, 23 mm, 47 mm, 70 mm, 139 mm, and 230 mm. Additionally, image styles inspired by analog film can be used.
Optional hardware for the camera is the Find X9 Ultra Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit. This includes an Explorer Case with a two-stage shutter button for focus and shutter, and a dial for stepless zoom control, the company explains. Part of the package is a 300mm teleconverter, which is mounted on the 3x telephoto camera. The teleconverter is only compatible with the Find X9 Ultra.
AI
ColorOS 16, based on Android 16, is installed ex-works. The system includes an AI package that Oppo calls AI Mind Space. It is said to be able to access multiple AI models, among other things. Additionally, the OS supports data exchange with Apple devices (via AirDrop) and between Android devices (via Quick Share).
For travel, the “Menu Translation” tool is included: The AI is not just supposed to translate menu text but also supplement it with visual representations and additional information about dishes. Furthermore, Oppo is introducing a new notification display with Live Space. In this view, information is to be “bundled in a compact, interactive display” and can be expanded by tapping or swiping.
Starting at 1700 Euros
There is still room for improvement in software longevity: Oppo offers 5 years of Android updates and 6 years of security patches. Samsung and Google, as well as Honor (for top models), offer up to 7 years.
The Find X9 Ultra is now available for order in “Tundra Umber” and “Canyon Orange”: it costs from 1700 Euros. The price is not particularly low; however, competitor Vivo sells its X300 Ultra for 300 euros more. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is available “from” 1500 euros, and on the open market for under 1300 euros.
In addition to the Find X9 Ultra, Oppo is also offering the Pad 5 tablet for 529 euros, the open clip-on headphones Enco Clip2 for 179 euros, and the Wear OS smartwatch Watch X3 for 429 euros.
