AMD's new AM5 top model costs 910 Euros
One day before the market launch of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, AMD reveals the last important detail: The processor will be available for 910 Euros.

AMD is introducing its new top processor model for the AM5 platform. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition is expected to be available in stores tomorrow, April 22, 2026, at approximately 3:00 PM. A review of the CPU will also be published online by then.
All remaining information is now available one day in advance. AMD is therefore also announcing the official recommended retail price for Europe: the 16-core processor will cost 910 Euros.
The previous Ryzen 9 9950X3D has a recommended retail price of 769 Euros, but is already available significantly cheaper (starting from 643 €) in stores. Consequently, interested parties will have to pay a premium of a good 40 percent for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 at launch.
Even more cache
In return, buyers get 64 MByte of additional Level 3 cache: AMD equips both compute chiplets with a stacked cache die in the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. This brings the processor's Level 3 cache to 192 MByte. In the previous Ryzen 9 9950X3D, only one of the two compute chiplets had such a cache die for a total of 128 MByte of Level 3 cache. With the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, the Windows scheduler no longer has to decide whether an application or game runs on the chiplet with extra cache or on the one with higher clock frequencies.
Since the introduction of earlier X3D processors, AMD has managed to control heat development and thus the clock frequencies of the stacked dies. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 only loses 100 MHz of turbo clock, reaching 5.6 instead of 5.7 GHz like the CPU cores without extra cache in the Ryzen 9 9950X3D. However, electrical power consumption also increases: AMD increases the Thermal Design Power (TDP) from 170 to 200 Watts. The real limit (Package Power Tracking, PPT) is still slightly above this.

Prices are rising
The increased prices of the new Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 and also the previously introduced Ryzen 7 9850X3D underscore the direction prices are heading for processors. Rumors of price increases for already available CPUs have been circulating for months.
The price increases are also a consequence of the AI boom: Both AMD and Intel are focusing on high-margin server processors for AI data centers. This leaves less capacity for desktop PCs and notebooks.
