Samsung had released an extensive security patch for Galaxy devices at the beginning of April, which closes 14 security vulnerabilities classified as critical. Numerous owners of various Galaxy models are struggling with various problems with Microsoft apps after installation – from Authenticator and Outlook to Teams and OneDrive. Apparently, there is a solution.
Nothing works
This is evident from posts in the Samsung Community, the r/Microsoft365 subreddit, and the Microsoft Community. One user describes their issues in the Microsoft Q&A forum: “I have a Samsung S25 Ultra, and since this week my Microsoft apps are no longer working. I first noticed this with my Outlook emails – they were no longer updating, and then they just disappeared, leaving only a black screen with no messages. I also couldn't start a Teams meeting on Wednesday with my Teams app; only the rotating connection symbol appeared, so I had to switch to my laptop.” Many other users report similar frustrating experiences.
On Reddit, a user writes that they received confirmation of the issue from Samsung and that the error would be addressed. “We are aware of the situation with the Microsoft apps and are currently working to fix the issue,” it says. We have also requested a statement from Samsung.

Apparently a WebView error
While Samsung does not yet have a patch or solution ready, it is stated in the Microsoft forum that the issue is due to a regression error in WebView caused by Samsung's April 2026 security update. User Patrick DeLine apparently has a solution ready for Microsoft apps to work again as intended; the corresponding forum post is highlighted as “Moderator Recommended Answer.”
To run Microsoft apps again on affected Galaxy devices, open settings, search for “Android System WebView,” then select App details in the store and tap “Uninstall updates,” and then restart the device. Afterwards, go to settings again, open “Android System WebView” > App details in the store again, and select “Update.”
If “Android System WebView” does not appear in the app list, you need to go to Settings > Google > All services > System services. WebView should then be displayed. Now restart the device, after which you can start Teams or Outlook and log in again.
Of course, this can only be considered a temporary solution; Samsung should act as quickly as possible so that Microsoft's apps function as expected.
