A gaming mouse with a touchscreen: A product pitch that would probably not have survived the first team meeting at many peripheral manufacturers is actually offered by the gaming brand Turtle Beach. The Command Series MC7 costs 160 euros and stands out primarily due to its 2.25-inch screen. You can currently pre-order it, and according to Turtle Beach, delivery will be in July.

The Turtle Beach MC7 looks a bit like someone mixed a common gaming mouse with a vertical mouse like Logitech's MX Vertical and built a screen into the high edge. The touchscreen can be used to control DPI sensitivity, profiles, macros, and apps. It takes up the space where most gaming mice place their forward and back buttons. To replace them, the US manufacturer has placed two additional buttons below the display. Another assignable button is also unusually hidden in the thumb rest. The MC7 is designed exclusively for right-handed operation.

With its touchscreen technology, the MC7 is not exactly lightweight: 135 grams is about double what dedicated gaming enthusiasts usually want to drag across their mousepad. The ergonomics also raise a big question mark. Furthermore, the screen is likely to consume additional battery life.

At least the battery can be replaced at any time; a charging station and an additional battery are included. Alternatively, the wireless mouse can also be charged directly via USB-C. The connection to the PC is either via Bluetooth (with latency) or a 2.4 GHz dongle (similar speed to a wired connection).

If you need even more screens to fiddle with besides your triple-monitor setup and the touchscreen on the gaming mouse, you can also buy the matching keyboard alongside the MC7: The Command Series KB7 costs 210 euros and places a 4.3-inch touch screen above the arrow keys.

More screens: Turtle Beach also offers a keyboard with a touch display.

Buttons that are omitted as a result, such as Print, Delete, or Insert, are moved to the F-key row as alternative assignments. The keyboard is also available in Qwertz layout.
