Spotify is expanding its offering to include fitness classes. The Swedish music streaming service has started integrating various guided workouts into its program. For this, Spotify is working with several fitness influencers, as well as the manufacturer of fitness equipment, Peloton.
Spotify is also implementing a two-tier system for its fitness offering: free users get access to some workouts, including “Yoga With Kassandra”, “Caitlin K’eli Yoga,” “Sweaty Studio,” “Chloe Ting Home Workouts,” “Pilates Body By Raven,” “Abi Mills Wellness,” or “Sophiereidfit.” The workouts offered by Peloton, on the other hand, are only available to paying premium users.
In total, there are already over 1400 ad-free on-demand courses in the Spotify app, ranging from outdoor runs to strength, cardio, yoga, and meditation, Spotify announced. The courses are designed for bodyweight exercises, so no special fitness equipment is necessary.
Spotify sees great interest
In its announcement, Spotify points to great interest in sports content: According to the streaming service, there are 150 million fitness playlists worldwide – i.e., playlists with music intended to provide motivation during training. The AI feature Prompted Playlists, introduced last year, with which users can generate their playlists via text command, is also frequently used to create fitness playlists.

The new Spotify feature goes beyond motivation-boosting music: the guided workouts are available as videos, with the instructors demonstrating the exercises live. The fitness programs are to be synchronized like music across different device types, allowing users to switch freely between mobile phone and TV playback, for example.
The workouts are still a bit hidden: To access the fitness category, you have to type “Fitness” into the Spotify search. Spotify has not set up a tab at the top of the screen for this.
