AWS outage in the US paralyzes Coinbase

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is struggling with problems in a US data center, leading to outages in one of its US regions. Trading on the crypto exchange Coinbase was also temporarily halted. According to Amazon, repair work is underway.
A power outage occurred in an AWS data center in Virginia on Friday around 1 a.m. German time. The cause was “increased operating temperatures,” as Amazon reports. Consequently, problems with Amazon's cloud services in the AWS region “US-EAST-1” in the “use1-az4” area persisted on Friday afternoon German time. Some issues have already been resolved, Amazon informed on a status page on Friday noon on a status page. The company referred to ongoing work on cooling systems. The problems may therefore continue for some customers until full resolution. Amazon expects this to take several more hours.

Coinbase also affected
Users of the US crypto exchange Coinbase also felt the outage. Trading was temporarily only possible to a limited extent. Around noon, the crypto exchange returned to regular operation after about seven hours.
Meanwhile, AWS in the Middle East continues to be affected by the Iran war. The reason is damage to two data centers due to drone attacks.
