New hardware for Vodafone existing customers: The network operator announced at the broadband trade fair ANGA COM that it will replace older receivers with the new GigaTV Home receiver generation by the end of 2027.
Current Hardware
As the company writes, owners of the older receiver models GigaTV.Net, Giga Cable Box 1, and the approximately 10-year-old Horizon will receive the latest receiver generation, GigaTV Home, the first of which was introduced in 2024.
Matthias Lorenz, Head of Consumer Business at Vodafone, says about the hardware exchange: “We are continuously improving the TV experience for our customers. Our GigaTV Home TV and entertainment hub combines TV channels, streaming services, media libraries, and video-on-demand on one platform – for cable or internet.”
The fourth generation of the receiver, introduced in January of this year, features 3 GByte RAM, 16 GByte storage, a Broadcom quad-core chip (BCM74127), and Wi-Fi 7, among other things. The system is based on Android and offers Chromecast support and access to the Google Assistant. Furthermore, the box supports Dolby Atmos sound and Dolby Vision as a dynamic HDR format.

Optionally, Vodafone will offer compact speakers as an extension for the GigaTV Home Sound variant, presumably from mid-June. According to the company, the TV box has an integrated sound system with speakers “for a room-filling Dolby Atmos sound experience.” The speakers have been sound-optimized by acoustics experts from Bang & Olufsen, it is said. Vodafone's Giga TV is primarily designed as an IPTV service (Internet Protocol Television); the Giga TV Home Box also has a DVB-C tuner for cable reception.
The standard GigaTV Home model costs €9.99 per month for the first six months of the 24-month contract period, after which it costs €14.99 per month. The Sound variant costs €5 more per month. The TV package offers access to 82 SD TV channels and 57 HD TV channels.
