“Helldivers 2” will receive a comprehensive technical update on May 27, providing PC players with advanced upscaling techniques DLSS 4.5, FSR 4, and XeSS 3.0. The update was developed in collaboration with Sony studio Nixxes, which was also responsible for the PC versions of “Horizon Forbidden West” and “Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered” and specializes in the technical aspects of port projects.
Previously, “Helldivers 2” did not feature advanced upscaling techniques, only render scaling. DLSS, FSR, and XeSS render at a lower resolution and use AI to upscale to the full output resolution. This reduces GPU load with minimal visual compromises. Upscaling is particularly important on high-resolution monitors like 4K, but modern upscaling techniques like DLSS 4.5 and FSR 4 also deliver good results at lower output resolutions.
In the PC version of “Helldivers 2,” all upscaling techniques will be available depending on the graphics card installed, as Arrowhead announced on the Steam blog. Owners of compatible AMD GPUs will receive AMD's FSR 4.0.3, while Nvidia users can use DLSS up to version 4.5. Intel graphics cards will be supported by XeSS 3.0. According to developer Arrowhead, many community members have long wished for better upscaling for the online shooter. The update will allow many of them to play “Helldivers 2” with improved performance and better image quality in the future.
Reflex and Anti-Lag 2
Additionally, Nvidia Reflex for GeForce cards and AMD Anti-Lag 2 for Radeon GPUs are being added; both reduce input lag. Variable Rate Shading reduces computational effort in less critical image areas, thereby decreasing the GPU workload.

There are also new features for consoles. PS5 Pro will receive PSSR 1, while PS5 and Xbox Series X will get FSR 3.1. The performance preset on PS5 and Xbox Series X will now provide an internal resolution of 1440p instead of 1080p. VRR support is also being added for PS5 and PS5 Pro, which prevents screen tearing without the latency penalty of V-Sync.
Arrowhead plans to release another tech update this summer, but the studio has not yet provided details. At the end of 2025, Arrowhead reduced the storage requirements for “Helldivers 2” from 154 GB to 23 GB.
