Compact yet high-quality mid-range notebooks have been in vogue since Apple launched its MacBook Neo in the spring. Acer's answer is its lightweight Swift Air series. This debuted last year as a 16-inch model with Ryzen internals; now a 14-inch variant with Intel's entry-level processor Core 300, also known as Wildcat Lake, is following.

While the Swift 16 weighs only one kilogram thanks to an all-metal housing made of a magnesium alloy, Acer is using aluminum for the new Swift Air 14. Despite the smaller dimensions, it is therefore heavier, even though 1.2 kilograms is still a practically low weight. The housing is available in four colors: green, pink, purple, and blue, but not all markets will receive all colors.

Acer can produce the Swift Air 14 in blue (back left), purple (back right), pink (front left) and green (front right), but not all colors will be available in all countries.

The matte IPS display covers the sRGB color space and displays its 1920 × 1200 pixels (16:10) at 120 Hertz. Acer specifies the maximum brightness at 350 cd/m2. In addition to an analog audio output and a USB-A port, Acer also provides two USB-C ports, both supporting fast Thunderbolt 4. The WLAN adapter operates according to Wi-Fi 6E, and the battery is said to last up to 16 hours when surfing the internet. Biometric login is possible via the Windows Hello webcam.

In the USA, prices – typically a Neo counter – start at $700 with a Core 5, 8 GB of soldered LPDDR5 RAM, and a 512 GB SSD; in Germany, this translates to 800 Euros. Although technically 16 GB of RAM would also be possible, this configuration will not be found here. To meet the low price point, only high volumes are needed – and not just at the point of sale, but already during production: the mainboard will only be manufactured in this one configuration for the time being, and for Germany, it will only be housed in a green, pink, or purple casing.

For the lid exterior, Acer has designed two designs; in this country, it will be the simpler version on the right.

The sales launch in Germany is already planned for July. To make this happen, Acer uses a technical trick: To circumvent the sales ban that has been in place since February due to patent infringement related to the H.265 video codec, the hardware decoder contained in the graphics unit is simply switched off. Buyers can then only play corresponding videos using a software decoder via the CPU cores, which requires more energy than the hardware decoder – but it does comply with all legal requirements.

In the category of particularly lightweight 14-inch laptops, the business notebook TravelMate P6 in its 2026 refresh with Core Ultra 300 (Panther Lake) is featured: it weighs just under one kilogram. Optionally, it offers up to 64 GB of soldered LPDDR5X RAM and an OLED touchscreen. The latter has a matte surface, realized with Gorilla Glass Matte Pro. Acer has already used this cover glass in the 2025 generation of the Swift Edge; the current model, however, is reflective again.

The TravelMate P6 with Core Ultra 300 is expected to be released in the third quarter; Acer has not yet announced prices.
