Jetty-Chefentwickler übt heftige Kritik an Spezifikation für Java-Servlet 3.0
Eine heftige Kontroverse ist um die jüngst veröffentlichte Java-Servlet-3.0-Spezifikation entbrannt. Jetty-Chefentwickler Greg Wilkins kritisiert die Spezifikation und den Entwicklungsprozess.
Um den jüngst eingebrachten Public Review Draft für den JSR 315 – Java Servlet 3.0 Specification – ist eine öffentliche Debatte entbrannt. So hat Greg Wilkins, Hauptentwickler des Jetty-Webserver und -Servlet-Container, in seinem Blog heftige Kritik an der neuen Spezifikation und dem Entwicklungsprozess innerhalb des JSR Expert Group geübt. Wilkins ist selbst Mitglied der Expert Group für die Servlet-Spezifikation.
Seine Kritik fällt detailliert aus: "I believe significant errors are being made in the current PR and that the flaws in the process have been enough to prevent the application of due diligence sufficiently for these flaws to become self evident. While I have received support in the EG with the debate on these issues. I have been unable to convince the spec lead of their validity and I have probably not helped the cause by some over-vigorous participation in the debate."
Wilkins hat die Community nun dazu aufgerufen, eine neue Public-Review-Runde einzufordern, wenn eine Beta-Referenzimplementierung verfügbar ist. Spezifikations-Lead Rajiv Mordani hat mittlerweile auf Wilkins' Posting reagiert. (ane)
