Medion launches notebook with Copilot+ and ARM processor Snapdragon X Elite

Another German provider jumps on the Windows-on-ARM bandwagon: Medion. In May, Microsoft presented its new AI functions for Windows 11 under the name Copilot+, which will initially run exclusively on Qualcomm's ARM processor Snapdragon X. The initial wave of devices comprised over a dozen notebooks, which will go on sale next Tuesday (June 18). From mid-July, Medion also is eager to join this ranks – but not with the established Akoya family name.

Instead, the company is launching a new brand (similar to HP with Omnibook): Sprchrgd, the English term "Supercharged", only without the vowels. The specific model in the gray all-metal case is called Sprchrgd 14 S1 Elite, which could lead to comprehension problems if prospective customers ask about it in the store.

Model selection

Medion wants to offer the notebook in two configuration variants at 1200 euros (16 GB, 512 GB SSD) and 1300 euros (32 GB, 1 TB SSD) – and thus at prices that are significantly higher than what you would normally expect from Aldi's main technology supplier. In both cases, the processor is a Snapdragon X Elite with twelve cores. Medion does not name the specific model, but due to the flat casing, it is likely to be the X1E-78-100 without boost clock frequencies, as with many other thin Qualcomm notebooks, as higher models produce significantly more waste heat and therefore require more expansive casings with more powerful cooling solutions.

The 14-inch notebook has a high-resolution 16:10 screen (2880 × 1800 pixels), which achieves 120 hertz and should cover the entire sRGB color space. Medion promises battery runtimes of up to 17 hours, but does not specify what this figure refers to. The LPDDR5X RAM is soldered on and therefore cannot be replaced at a later date. The Full HD webcam can be deactivated together with the microphone via a switch; a fingerprint reader is available for convenient login.
